Marker: Red stripe
Duration: 2-2 ¼ hours
The trail starts from the peak of the Gutâi mountain pass (DN18). From the Pintea Viteazul Inn, the path ascends through the forest, passing the GSM antenna on the right, and reaches the former ski slope of the Doctors. From here, it follows the contour and gently descends to Poiana Boului, where it intersects with the blue stripe marker from the Măriuţii Road, where there is a map panel and directional arrows. The marker crosses the expansive meadow diagonally, passes the road coming from Şuior, leaves a spring on the left, and reaches the ridge, where it meets the forest road to the east of the Salvamont shelter. The road continues east, north of the ridge, passes above the Sărita lui Pintea rock, alongside the high-voltage line, and reaches the extensive pasture at the foot of the high Gutâi plateau. A little further, at the edge of the forest, the marker leaves the forest road and ascends to the right along the tractor path. At Masa de Piatră, we meet the blue cross marker coming from Mara. The markers ascend along a trail that leads us to the forest edge, where we meet the red cross marker coming from Breb. Two informational panels are placed at the forest entrance, and from here begins a thematic trail focusing on the biodiversity of the reserve. The trails are shared, winding upwards in serpentines until the southern end of Rooster`s Crest.
